Margot Filipenko

Margot Filipenko

Margot Filipenko is a Professor of Teaching, Director of Early Childhood Education at the University of British Columbia, teaches undergraduate and graduate course in literacy acquisition, children’s literature, theory and research in international models of early childhood education, and teacher education. She has served as a pre-school teacher, a head teacher at a model pre-school (The Child Study Centre at the University of B.C.) and as a faculty member in the Early Childhood Education program at a college of higher learning (Langara).

Dr. Filipenko’s research focuses on problem-based learning, teacher education, early literacy and the texts and materials of of reading (children’s literature). Her current research projects explore the integration of digital pedagogies in teacher education.
