Janet Jamieson’s research interests center on identifying social contexts supportive of the social and cognitive growth of deaf and hard of hearing children, with a view to informing early intervention and educational planning. Specifically, her scholarly and professional work has three interrelated strands: a) the peer interaction of deaf and hard of hearing children in integrated elementary classroom settings; b) support needs for families of young children with hearing loss, particularly at the stages of the transition from early intervention to kindergarten; and c) the effectiveness of new technologies, including the Internet, in meeting the needs of parents of young deaf children for information and support.
