Ann Anderson conducts research and teaches in the area of mathematics education. For example, she carried out a two year longitudinal study of preschool children and parent engagement with mathematics, in 8 middle class families from varied backgrounds. More recently, with colleagues Jim Anderson, Jan Hare and Marianne McTavish she organized a SSHRC sponsored workshop involving local, national and international scholars in early childhood. They produced an edited volume, Language, Learning and Culture in Early Childhood: Home, School and Community Contexts (Routledge, 2016). And with the same colleagues, she is conducting a SSHRC sponsored study, Young Children’s Engagement with Digital Tools and Technology at Home and in the Community, in socially disadvantaged communities.
